## Introduction

To satisfy my own needs, I built a relatively high-speed and full-featured home network environment: 2.5G intranet, NAS, and remote access.

This post records my network configuration and future plans.

## Version

26/03/15 initial version

26/06/28 update: changed broadband service and adapted the network for a dedicated VR router.

## Overview

The topology is shown below. The home connection is a 500M China Mobile broadband line. The optical modem is bridged into an ASUS RT-BE88U router. Two 2.5G switches, one in the bedroom and one in the living room, connect all devices. The physical layout is described in [Living Space Renovation: Physical Space](https://yufeiran.com/en/zu-fang-gai-jin-ji-hua/?ref=cms.yufeiran.com).

## Details

### Network Layout

LAN IP allocation:

192.168.50.1 to 192.168.50.99 are static IPs.

192.168.50.100 to 192.168.50.255 are dynamic IPs.

Static allocation table:

| Segment | Use |
| ---------------- | ---------------------------------------------- |
| 192.168.50.1 | Router |
| 192.168.50.2 | N100 side router |
| 192.168.50.3-19 | Home devices |
| 192.168.50.20-99 | IoT devices, such as smart lights and switches |

## Summary

The current network can satisfy my daily needs. It is basically close to fully loaded for what I need now.

## Future Plans

1. Continue improving intranet speed, and consider SSD storage for the NAS.
2. Build a 24-hour local AI service and connect it to Home Assistant.
